Orbit is an electroacoustic instrument based on the rotation of five steel balls, two piezo pickups, and a custom esp32 audio dev board.
This project was inspired by ocean drums, rain sticks, and the idea of "ambient" acoustic instruments. Orbit is the first project to use a custom audio development board I've been developing for the past year based on the esp32-s2.
The board features a 24-bit audio codec, stereo in/out, phantom power for microphone input, and a class D amplifier for speaker output. The esp32-s2 is capable of running Faust dsp code, which is used to pitch shift and add delay to the input signal from the piezo pickups.
