Candamill Mott St

Spatial sound Design for an immersive installation by Candamill at Mott St. in Manhattan, NY.

Using MaxMSP, I created a generative soundscape for the brief: "synthetic natural meadow". Upon entering the space vistors were immersed in asynchronous loops of processed field recordings and sythesized waveforms based on a just intonation tuning system. The installation featured a time based projection mapping and lighting program that cycled between day and night modes. Communicating via OSC the MaxMSP patch was able to sync the sound scape with the visuals, fading between different samples and synth loops as the installation transitioned between states.

"New York-based Candamill, known for its architectural handbags, has opened a playful concept store at 277 Mott Street, Manhattan. An ’immersive art installation’ made to celebrate two single handbags, the space comprises a simulated landscape through organic elements and light and sound design. Conceived to be viewed at street level (or by limited appointment), it serves ‘as a conversation piece spotlighting the brick-and-mortar retail store’s purpose in the fashion industry today’..." -Wallpaper Magazine
